The Smith Art Gallery and Museum was founded in 1874. Within the Stirling Smith are many fine examples of Scottish painting, including work by Alexander Naysmyth, Sir William Allan and John Duncan. The picturesque beauty of Stirling's countryside has, as the collection shows, always attracted artists.
The Stirling Smith is the repository for archaeological finds in Stirling district, and has a botanical, geological and natural history collection of note.

The Smith is a good base from which to explore Stirling. Park free at the Smith, and take the Back Walk to Stirling Castle and the Old Town Jail. Come back for coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in the Smith's cafe.
